![]() I went to my colonoscopy appointment at 07:00. The discharges came in spurts with great pressure and my anus swollen. ![]() I colon was tight and felt inflamed by the pills. I stayed up and drank the required fluids (water) and started discharging at about 03:45. At 02:00 the next morning I took the second dose of 12 pills and finished the pills by 02:20. ![]() The discharge did not feel complete because my colon was so inflamed and tight. I felt uncomfortable and it felt like my colon was inflamed. It took three hours before I started discharging. The night before the procedure I took the first dose of 12 pills and took the water per the instructions. I was given instruction about the procedure. "I was asked to use Sutap Bowel Prep Kit Oral before a colonoscopy. I was lucky and got a complete box for free from my doctor so I don’t know about the cost." I have heard that this med is expensive and insurance may not cover it. The doctor’s report said that my preparation was adequate. That one did the trick and I was finished clearing out in time. I felt nauseous a few hours later so I took a Zofran 30 minutes before taking the 2nd dose. The first dose hardly cleaned me out but that is probably because of inadequate hydration & diet in the days leading up to the prep. I would not recommend it for people who have difficulty swallowing large pills because you have to take 12 of them within 20 minutes and then 12 more on the morning of your procedure. I already take a lot of psychiatric/pain medication so swallowing all of those pills in short bursts of time was not a problem for me. "I asked for Sutab since I was having a 2nd colonoscopy in less than a year and did not want to do Plenvu again. A strange experience but not entirely horrible either. Slept pretty well and was clear for morning exam. That said, the prep was good and it did the trick. Paced around a bit & small sips of water until the salty taste and nausea subsided (15 min). I couldn't risk throwing up all the pills I had taken when I was so close to the end. I admit I only made it thru 22 of total 24 pill dose. All the sulfate rises up and causes an extreme salty taste and saliva buildup. ![]() But the 2nd 12 pills were HARD to get thru. About an hour after finishing 1st dose of 12 pills I was running to bathroom (while working on 32 oz of water!). First off, ate a very low residue, no dairy or meat diet for 48 hours prior to prep day (also hydrated with water and gatorade the days before.) As many here suggested, asked Dr for Zofran (anti-nausea), it was definitely needed in my case. "Not a walk in the park but better than the liquids. Overall worked out for me w/ some tweaking." I woke up at 6:00 am to go to procedure and clear water came out. By this point it looked like watered down tea. Went to slept at midnight and woke up a few times. I felt a bit of nausea- burped and felt relieved. Then at 10:00 drank another bottle of propel. I used the gummy bear candies again as incentive. After drank a bottle of 24 Oz peach propel. I drank directly out of bottle which was 16 Oz. I would take a pill w/ swig of watermelon Hint water and then eat a yellow or green gummy bear. Took first bottle of sutab pills at 5:00. For rest of afternoon had lemon water ice, white cranberry juice and lime jello. For prep day I woke up and ate cream of wheat and coffee. "I had a colonoscopy today and wanted to share my notes. Key is to prepare and hydrate ahead of time, stay calm and dont rush the pills & water. All in all a thumbs up for clear successful colonoscopy. Repeat steps (another zofran too) in the AM with cramping and slight waves of nausea. Within 90 min of the first pill I was going. It is a lot, so stay active by pacing, taking small walks in the yard etc. Spaced the 12 pills out 1 pill every 2 1/2 minutes with 16 oz water & 32 oz water an hour later. Also I took a zofran anti nausea pill 1 hour pre-prep (have seen that half a dramamine helps too). I hydrated 8 oz of water, mint tea, and gatorade as often as possible for 48 hours prior. They key is PRE PREP! Ate a low residue NO meat diet for 3 days prior, and a full liquid only whole day of prep. I was worried after reading all the negative reviews and feel for those with a bad experience but my own couldn't have gone more smoothly. "4th colonoscopy, 3rd variation and best prep so far.
